Sulz Gallery Scarves – Review

Hello Lovely Ladies!

A lot of you beautiful ladies have been asking me about where I buy my scarves – I’ve bought them mostly from stores in Doha or Dubai. But if you are residing in India then you do not need to worry because there are so many excellent stores in India that sell scarves. One store I came across on instagram was Sulz Gallery. I was very Impressed by the variety of prints and kinds of scarves they had to offer. I was sent two scarves from this outlet – Thank you again Sulz Gallery for the Love!

First scarf:

The first one I tried was this beautiful printed cotton viscose scarf. I love the colors here and how it feels on me – very soft! This scarf has contrasting colors and looks great when you wear it! Its very light weight and perfect for Indian weather. The length of this scarf is 180 cm & the width is 90cm. Pretty good!

Second scarf:

IMG_5806.PNG

The fabric in this scarf is more cotton like and I love the Lace detailing of this pretty scarf & they come in a wide range of colors. The length of this scarf is 180 cm & the width is 75cm. Personally I prefer wider scarves hence this one was not my favorite. Then again that is what I prefer.

Review? I think these are great cotton viscose scarves as they are light and airy- Making it Perfect for Indian weather (especially for summers), comes in beautiful prints and they are very affordable too! ALSO, they deliver all over India, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar & Saudi Arabia!!

The Best Advice

When I was in my teens a very smart woman gave me a very good advice that I wish to share with you today.

She told me ‘Shahla an advice I want to give you in life is to never take success for granted and do not lose hope because of failures’  This was the best advice I could get as I was growing up. Yes Success is great but, not letting it get to your head is the most important thing. If your successful be kind be humble. On the other hand failure is greater because it is a great teacher, it teaches you to stand up again when you fall. Failure is not the end but an opportunity to learn.

Don’t worry guys! I’ve not turned into a philosopher YET, I just wanted to share this with you. Also I would appreciate if you guys could share some of the advice you got in life. Drop your comments down below or on my Instagram messages (Instagram : Shelo_27)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

XOXO

Amsterdam Part 2

Hi Guys!!!

So this is the continuation of my previous post on Amsterdam. If you haven’t read part 1 then the link is as follows:

https://girlfromkasargod.wordpress.com/2017/03/14/amsterdam-part-1/

Day 2 – The weather in Amsterdam was excellent, we biked our way through the beautiful streets of Amsterdam, enjoying the amazing weather. Point to mention – The locals here  were so damn good looking. Blue eyes blond hair and all that. Not only were they good looking but to my surprise they were extremely friendly and smiley!  No Wonder why Netherlands is considered to be one among the most ‘happiest’ countries in the world. Also they speak English fluently hence there was no communication problem. So Day 2 was like the best day for me in the entire trip but I’m afraid I cant say the same thing for Fayu. It was the best day for me because I SHOPPED till I DROPPED (ok not exactly dropped, but till Fayu dragged me out of the store). More on ‘shopping with me in Amsterdam’ in another post.

So what did we do on Day 2?

We went to The Centre – This is where you will find all the entertainment of Amsterdam, you’ll find nightclubs,  concert venues, casinos, some dodgy coffee shops with dodgy stuff, movie theaters, shops in this neighborhood.

One more picture, please?

The Nine Little Streets, as the name suggests this is a set of nine streets that run between the Prinsengracht and Singel canals and have a lot to offer in terms of shopping. Gazzillion H&M stores, Pull & Bear, Bershka, Kiko, Stradivarius etc

IMG_6191

IMG_6193

And when you get tired of shopping you eat Crepe’s & Waffles 😀

Yeaaahh! Happy Me

Next stop Vondelpark – This is a gorgeous English style park with ponds, lawns, footbridges and winding footpaths. You will see a lot of tourists, cyclists, fitness enthusiasts, lovers enjoying their time in park. Although the Vondelpark receives over 10 million visitors per year, it never feels too crowded to enjoy.

After cycling for a long time we got hungry again got ourselves Stroopwafels from Lanskroon. Stroopwafels  is a popular dutch waffle made from two thin layers of baked dough with a caramel filling in the middle. They are absolutely delicious and a must try when in Amsterdam!

IMG_5425
I wanna go back to Amsterdam for those Waffles

We went to Leidseplein –  a crowded area with many restaurants & cafes. If you do not like crowded ares then you should avoid this place altogether. We went there to have authentic Dutch Cuisine. We Chose to go to De Blauwe Hollander, a decent place to get some dinner.

Other things to do in Amsterdam is visit some of its Museums. Amsterdam has great Museums but we dint go to Museums as we dint have the time, Hopefully we would do that the next time! A common misconception about this gorgeous city is that it only hasDrugs & Sex to offer, which is not true at all & there are many other things you could do here to enjoy this place. It has rich history and has many beautiful places to see.We were very impressed by the dutch hospitality and would say that it is an interesting city you will fall in love with..

Until Next Time Guys!

H&M Bronzer Palette

Hi Guys,
This is going to be a short and quick review on the HnM Bronzer palette. I do not know where to begin with honestly. So I picked this palette just to try it – I had not heard or read of any reviews of this palette. This Palette costs around QAR 45 which is around $12.36 or INR 809. The palette consists of two shades of highlighter (Gold undertone & bronze undertone) and two shades of bronzer (Creamish brownish & dark brown). Packaging is pretty cute and simple although it would be great if the packaging would be more sturdy & not made up of cardboard. Also I wouldn’t mind a mirror (Asking for too much am I?)
IMG_5187
IMG_5188
So how is this Palette?
I know this product looks very average, but boy oh boy it has a great highlighter! Especially the gold highlighter is to die for. This is one product that I had no expectations from & it has pleasantly surprised me. The highlighter with the bronze undertone is more subtle.

This is just one swipe guys
Now for the bronzer
The product has a smooth and a very fine texture. Its powdery & the pigmentation is good, buildable too. Gives you a good contoured look as well.

This is the colour it gives with just one swipe
My Rating for this Product : 3.8/5

Also, if you want to really Highlight & Contour without making a hole in your pockets then this product is the one for you!  A great value for money too!
Until Next time!

Amsterdam! Part 1

Hello guys!

I know I was supposed to write this post a few days back but as the saying goes ‘better late than never’ , I’ve been procrastinating this post for the longest time now. If you have read my previous blog posts you would know that me & my husband enjoyed our stay in Paris & it was time for us to move on to our next destination – Amsterdam

We took a train from Paris to Amsterdam – almost a 3 and a half hour journey. Our journey was great as we booked our tickets with Thalys:

img_5421
Husband excited to go to Amsterdam
img_5429
Funny how things around me suddenly start to blur when I see FOOD

Amsterdam is the capital of Netherlands, home to many canals and bridges. This place is also nicknamed as the ‘Venice of north’ (although I’ve never been to Venice so I’m not sure how true that is). The city has some great museums, parks and places to SHOP, yeah that had to be bold, underlined & in Italic form as that was the most important part of this trip, Right? Yes, shopping was important but then the city itself was so damn gorgeous that I could not help but fall in love – it was love at first sight for me, I don’t know if Amsterdam felt the same way towards me.

Important note: Anyone reading this blog from Amsterdam, if you are interested in adopting an adult female please contact me. I have some supreme talents that I don’t usually boast about, some of my talents include – doing laundry, cooking food which may or may not be inedible, I can sing to entertain you (my friends call it screeching). If you do not want to adopt me then all I can say to you is “Your loss, huh” & “adopt me please, pleaaaasssseeeeee”?

Ok, so as soon as we reached Amsterdam we took a cab and headed towards our very cool hostel – CityHub a hostel with a concept. Basically you book yourself a hub at this hostel, so hub is the name given by them for their capsule like rooms. Each hub has WiFi, air ventilation, air conditioning, a very comfortable bed and you can also change the lighting inside your hub into many colors. The bathrooms and shower  for men and women are seperate and pretty neat.

Now for the best part – Wait for it – They give you a freaking portable Wifi which you can take with you and use around the city. So damn considerate! Yep! But you obviously gotta return it when your stay is over.

IMG_5460
You can either book the upper hub or the lower hub
IMG_5572
Fayu deciding between Mocha and Americano. Decisions, Decisions!

So after we dropped our bags it was time to explore the beautiful city. Biking is a way of life here. Its how the locals commute around the city – shop, go to work or meet a friend all you need to do is rent a bike.

We rented our bikes and headed towards Dam Square – a square that has food stalls, restaurants and branded stores. This place is very popular and crowded. Whatever the weather, there is always something going on here so expect lots of entertainment:

IMG_5501

After Entertainment, waiting for my fries at a stall in the square
IMG_5491
Mandatory Selfie with the Canal
IMG_5474
Another Mandatory Picture at the square

Things to do and see in Dam Square:

  1. Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) is a gothic building that holds Royal coronations and weddings, as well as art exhibitions
  2. National Monument was erected in 1956 to memorialize the victims of World War II. Visitors often sit all around the monument.
  3. Madame Tussauds the famous wax museum
  4. Eat at the restaurants
  5. Go to the coffee shops (These are not just your regular coffee shops, they sell hashish, marijuana and related stuff I think)

We chilled near the Dam square till the night & the next thing we know is we somehow magically and for unknown reasons were in the middle of The Red Light area, we really dint know how that happened. Ok fine, we walked towards the Red light area willfully. So in the Red Light area there are these beautiful women and trans women (who look more woman than real women, if you know what I mean) skimpily dressed in their window parlors trying to lure men. Photographing these women is strictly banned, if caught taking pictures one would face consequences. So obviously I dint take pictures. Honestly the place looked quite dodgy and we got out from there quickly cos I was being a chicken.

We ended the night by grabbing a quick bite as we wanted to do a lot of things the next day, also I’m gonna end the post here for today & stop boring you as always. Part 2 will follow soon.

Until next time.

XOXO

What I Wore For My Brother’s Wedding

Hello Gorgeous!

My brother’s wedding was one of the biggest things this year for me (also for him I guess. Shouldn’t it be the biggest thing for him and not for me? No what am I saying? It should be equally big for me & him! But I’m not the one who’s getting married, he’s the one getting married. Ok wait! *thinks a lot & comes to a conclusion* – Nevermind Shahla, don’t stress your brain over it’s capacity)

Moving on, this post is my attempt to show off what I wore at my brother’s wedding. (Don’t use terms like show off! It comes off as rude & boastful which you are most of the times but don’t show your true colors to your readers just yet) Oh right! So this post is to show you guys what I wore for brother’s wedding.

Outfit for Nikah (The name given for a Muslim marriage):

fullsizerender
Me & the Beautiful Bride AKA my sister AKA my sister in law AKA my brother’s wife – You get the point!
I got the off white cloth fabric from India (Courtesy my lovely Mother In Law) & the pearl lace on my waist also from India. The fabric used for the gown is a soft net with floral embroidery  on it. Got this dress stitched from a tailor in Qatar.

Squint eyes & that 100 watt smile – such a retard

Outfit for Mehendi:

I wore a all royal blue cape top & a pleated skirt for the Mehendi with a turban (Turban tutorial coming next week on the blog – I Promise!). I bought the fabric for the top & skirt from Doha. The top is again a soft net with embroidery & pearls on it and the fabric of the skirt is raw silk. Got this outfit tailor made in Doha.

Outfit for Mumbai reception:

So for this day I bought a ready made beautiful gold salwar kameez and bought a mirror work lace. I added this lace to enhance the already beautiful dress.

March Goals!

img_5225

Wow! Its the third month of 2017 already you guys! Its been C-R-A-Z-Y so far, the last two month just flew for me. I must say it was quite productive for me wherein I got to do & learn a lot of new things. Also I completed 1 month of blogging – ‘Happy 1 month anniversary to me‘ (Yayyyyyyyy!!!!)

I’ve been doing my homework before I started blogging & saw a lot of bloggers who kept setting goals for themselves, setting up goals is a great way to keep you going & also achieving all that you wish for one step at a time. Since childhood, I must say I’ve been AMAZING at setting goals – but HORRIBLE at achieving them! Hence, today I’ll be doing a Goals Post for the month of March. Why a goals post? So that I’ll be under pressure to achieve them & not be a bad example to my readers. But before that, you need to know what happened in the first two months this year;

My January & February Goals were:

Offer help at my brother’s wedding (I was the “unofficial” event manager there)

Start a blog (I did! Had to gather a lot of courage for this one)

Start a physical activity (Started Swimming)

Design your own clothes for your brother’s wedding (Yes I did it! I’ll be blogging about the wedding & the clothes obviously!!)

Read more (I read a lot of useful blogs)

Start learning a new language (Did not happen)

My March Goals are:

Upload a turban tutorial

Show up to work on time (Guys I Promise you I get late because of traffic – EVERYDAY!! AARGGGHHH)

Swim thrice a week

Set a weekly budget for me (and try not to fall into the trap of buying another pair of those gorgeous shoes)

Help my cousins during their exam

Write a minimum of 2 blog posts a week

Get my blog posts ready for a week in advance

Eat Healthy (ALSO LOSE SOME WEIGHT)

Drink more water

What are your March goals guys? – Comment below and let me know 🙂

Take care beautiful people!

Places To Visit In Qatar – Souq Waqif

I have been living in Qatar for the last two & half years now. When I first moved here I honestly dint know what to expect, I must admit I had my reservations and that’s normal right? However, It dint take a lot of time for me to love this country. Since I am living here I decided to start blogging about my favorite spots here.

And today I’ll be talking about Souq Waqif (Standing Market).

Souq Waqif is an authentic Qatari market that is considered to be the only market in the Middle East that has worked really hard towards retaining its roots. This market was established a 100 years ago but was in 2006 the governement of Qatar decided to renovate this place in order to preserve the rich history & culture of Qatar. It also reflects upon the ancient architecture of Qatar.

This market has a lot to offer and several streets in this market look like a maze & a lot of alleyways where you tend to get lost – which I love!

This market attracts a lot of tourists every year, as it has a lot to offer to people from shopping to food to entertainment.

What Cuisines will You find here? – Qatari Cuisine, Mediterranean cuisine, Yemeni cuisine, Iraqi cuisine, Syrian Cuisine & Indian Cuisine. You also get the best Kunafeh (cheese pastry soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup) in souq waqif from Al Aker Sweets. They are to die for!

What can You shop from here? – Pashmina Shawls, Carpets, Abayas (Burkha), Incense (Oud), Shisha, Fabrics, Garments, Spices, Dry fruits, Pets (limited to Cats, dogs, birds & Rabbits), and Arts & Crafts.

What else will You get to see in Souq? – Entertainment. You will find musical acts and street performers during the weekend.

What does the GirlFromKasargod love to do most in Souq? – I go there for shopping mostly or for the entertainment or to try and find a table outside any one of the many restaurants there & sit, drink coffee & do some ‘people watching’.

I am very fond of this market & encourage all you readers to plan a trip to Doha, Qatar. You will certainly love this place.

Travel Essentials

Travel – Such an exciting word! Pumps up your mood instantly right?

Traveling can be a lot of fun unless you forget to pack those ‘comfortable shoes’ that saves your legs after a long day of exploring. The common mistake that a lot of us do is we plan extensively about the destination we chose, hotels we are going to stay in, places we will visit & cuisines we will eat but neglect a very important factor until the very last minute – what to carry & what not to carry?

Travelling will be fun if you pack smartly & NOT carry a 100 kilos of luggage with you, the lighter you pack the easier your life will be when you are on the go.

Here are a few of my Travel Essentials:

1. Documents – Passport, Visas (If required), Flight tickets, Travel & Medical Insurance.

2. Money – Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Prepaid Travel Cards or hard cash. I prefer keeping very little hard cash on me & Prepaid Travel cards with me so I know how much I should spend on my trip & not go overboard.

3. First-aid – Carry basic first aid like paracetamol & allergic pills. Oh yeah! Also antiseptic cream if you are as clumsy as me and tend to trip over the tiniest of pebble.

4. Clothes & Accessories –

a) Pack Wrinkle free clothes so that you don’t have to worry about ironing them.

b) Carry clothes & underwear that dry quickly.

c) Carry really comfortable shoes & NOT ‘pretty looking’ shoes, They are good for pictures but will KILL your legs.

d) Pack clothes which you can mix & match with some of your other clothes. This way you would not be required to carry a lot of clothes.

e) Sunglasses

5. Personal items

a) Buy small travel bottles to transfer your face wash, body wash or shampoos for your travels

b) Tooth paste & brush

c) Nail Clippers

d) Hair brush

e) Disposable Razors

f) Sanitary & hygiene products if you are a girl, obviously.

g) Moisturizers & Sunscreen lotions

h) Last but not the least – Your Phone, it serves for various purposes like Calls & Messages, Photographs, Flash light, GPRS, read books, Mirror, use your smartphones to monitor your heat rate, play games on your phone when you have to stand in a long que or post a lame joke on your social networking site – Just to torture your followers.

I hope this post helps & motivates you to pack that bag & also encourage you to explore the world – sooner than later because as the saying goes:

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page – Saint Augustine

Until next time.

This Valentine’s – Make a difference!

Why is Valentine’s day always associated with your boyfriends, girlfriends or spouses? Isn’t this the day of love? So why do you have to limit expressing our love to only that one person. You may say because they are ‘special’ – Ok! Agreed they are special! So isn’t your mum special? Isn’t your cat special? Isn’t your best friend with whom you have a platonic relationship special? Aren’t kids in the orphanage who have no family special?

Valentine’s Day is considered as a lovely day to express your love, and we should try not to stick to please that one person. You need to share the love with everyone that is special to you. “How do I walk up to my father randomly & say ‘I love you’? That’s gonna be awkward” – if your not the ‘expressing with words’ type then you have so many other ways to express your love. For instance, hold that door for a few more seconds for someone, offer an act of kindness, write a note for your little sibling, make coffee for your colleague, give a compliment to someone, tell a good joke or a bad one.Its simple things in life that makes people happy & if you are in any which way a reason for that happiness that alone will increase the love for you in their hearts! Be that reason this Valentine’s Day and bring that beautiful change. It would cost you nothing but make a huge difference!
Thoughts??

P.S: don’t forget to send flowers to your loved ones ocassionally & not just on Valentine’s!
